Charles Mitchill Bogert. 1 Early life and education. In 1953, he undertook an extensive study of frog vocalizations in the Chiricahua Mountains of Arizona, and released a series of records entitled Sounds of the American Southwest and Sounds of the North American Frogs, as well as a recording of Mexican folk music.
Beck, Bogert & Appice were a rock supergroup and power trio formed by guitarist Jeff Beck and evolving from The Jeff Beck Group. The line up included bassist Tim Bogert and drummer Carmine Appice who were both previously in Vanilla Fudge and Cactus. Beck had been keen to work with Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice after encountering the two in 1967 and after subsequent meetings and sessions such as those which took place between July 6 and 10, 1969. I thought this was really helpful because when encountered in the wild you typically don't find a single animal on its own. First issued in the 1950s but finally reaching a wide audience at millennium's end (coincidence?), Sounds of North American Frogs is an aural encyclopedia of native species, alone and in group settings, interspersing frog and toad calls with the distinctively Eisenhower-era narration of herpetologist Charles M. Bogert
