Richard Chamberlain sang in three Dr. Kildare episodes, "Love is a Sad Song" (1993), "Rome Will Never Leave You" (1964) and "Music Hath Charms" (1965). During the "Dr. Kildare" days, he filmed "Joy in the Morning" and sang the title tune. His second album was precisely called "Joy in the Morning" (1964). Other singles followed . George Richard Chamberlain (born March 31, 1934) is an American stage and screen actor and singer, who became a teen idol in the title role of the television show Dr. Kildare (1961–1966). Since then, he has appeared in several mini-series such as Shōgun (1980) and The Thorn Birds (1983), and many successful films such as The Bourne Identity (1988) being the first man to play Jason Bourne, and he has performed classical stage roles and worked in musical theatre.
In 1963, Richard Chamberlain released his version as the final single from his 1962 album Richard Chamberlain Sings. This version met with moderate success, placing on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 65. Another remake was released in 1971, when Paige Claire included her version as a track on her eponymous debut album. List of UK top-ten albums in 1963.
