Astronomy ‎– Magnetosphere.

A magnetosphere is a region of space surrounding an astronomical object in which charged particles are manipulated or affected by that object's magnetic field. It is created by a planet having an active interior dynamo. In the space environment close to a planetary body, the magnetic field resembles a magnetic dipole. Farther out, field lines can be significantly distorted by the flow of electrically conducting plasma, as emitted from the Sun or a nearby star.

The magnetosphere is the region above the ionosphere that is defined by the extent of the Earth's magnetic field in space. It extends several tens of thousands of kilometers into space, protecting the Earth from the charged particles of the solar wind and cosmic rays that would otherwise strip away the upper atmosphere, including the ozone layer that protects the Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation. However, the Earth's field has a significant non-dipolar contribution, so the poles do not coincide and compasses do not generally point at either. Electric Spell Recorded in RENNES (FRA) in may 2015 All songs are fully improvised jams, excepted "Electric Spell". jamroom I was a fan of their first album, Magic Carpet Ride and this album is no disappointment. Magnetosphere (track and album) is an epic trip through guitar-led heavy psych rock.

The team’s observation is the first of a magnetosphere around a white dwarf. Ignoring their magnetospheres could mean measurements of other basic properties of white dwarfs are wrong, like their temperatures and masses. Type Ia supernovae are violent stellar explosions that shine as some of the brightest objects in the universe, but there are still many mysteries surrounding their origin.

Mars’ magnetosphere went dark about 4 billion years ago whe. Concept for an artificial Martian Magnetosphere at Mars L1. Here, the white dot is our satellite equipped with the technology to produce a powerful magnetic field. Earth’s magnetic field, originating at it’s core, has a strength of ~6 10^-5 Teslas at the distance of the Earth’s surface. This is the force which deflects compass needles. It is also the strength required to defend our atmosphere against deadly solar wind. However, a space-based magnetic field at Mars does not have to be quite this powerful.

The magnetosphere is the region of space surrounding Earth where the dominant magnetic field is the magnetic field of Earth, rather than the magnetic field of interplanetary space. The magnetosphere is formed by the interaction of the solar wind with Earth’s magnetic field. The consequence is that conditions inside the magnetosphere are highly dynamic and create what we call space weather that can affect technological systems and human activities.

Earth’s magnetosphere is created by the constantly moving molten metal inside Earth. We have several missions that study Earth’s magnetosphere – including the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission, Van Allen Probes, and Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms (also known as THEMIS) – along with a host of other satellites that study other aspects of the sun-Earth connection. Mercury, with a substantial iron-rich core, has a magnetic field that is only about 1% as strong as Earth’s.

A magnetosphere is the region of space surrounding an astronomical object in which charged particles are controlled by that object's magnetic field. The magnetic field near the surface of many astronomical objects resembles that of a dipole. The field lines farther away from the surface can be significantly distorted by the flow of electrically conducting plasma emitted from a nearby star (. Planets with a magnetosphere, like Earth, are capable of mitigating or blocking the effects of cosmic radiation. YouTube Encyclopedic.
