John Schlitt sets out to create the rock album you’ve been waiting for – be a part of it! Created by. John Schlitt. The Greater Cause will be the title of my fourth solo album. The project is intended to be a fresh and powerful tool to accomplish what God has been doing through me for many years: connecting and encouraging people through my music. I’ve learned a lot since the release of The Grafting as an independent artist on my own label and I want to take it to the next level with this new album. In these days filled with uncertainty and insecurity - both economically and politically - we as Christians need to remind each other who Christ is and who we are in Him. We need to use common sense in this.

In 2008, John had released his first solo album in twelve years, titled The Grafting. Thankfully, fans didn't have to wait nearly as long for the rock legend to get back in the saddle as Schlitt has produced a new collection of rock songs known as The Greater Cause. The Greater Cause is a strong effort from rock legend John Schlitt. Although fans of today's rock need not apply-as the stylistic base for Schlitt's sound is undeniably a classic, arena rock-Schlitt has done well to pay homage to his roots and loyal fanbase while giving it just a hint of modern flavor to remind us where we are in 2012.

The name John Schlitt is most often synonymous with Petra. And rightly so, at least when considering the twenty year run the artist had with the group that included thirteen studio albums (nine in a melodic hard rock vein, three of the rock praise variety and one acoustic) and one live CD/DVD. His solo material might not be as well known but deserves every bit as much acclaim. The Greater Cause, his most recent solo outing, hit the shelves in the spring of 2012. Musically, the artists press material has built up The Greater Cause as a return to his rock roots, which it does to, well, a certain extent. Yes, the album can hit hard, as it does on the seven tracks taking a commercial melodic hard rock heading, but can also mellow out for the four others approaching things from an acoustic rock standpoint. It adds up to a best of both worlds scenario that has its good and bad points.
