Graffiti Bridge is a 1990 American rock musical drama film written by, directed by, and starring Prince in his fourth and final film role. It is the sequel to his 1984 film Purple Rain. Like its predecessor, it was accompanied by a soundtrack album of the same name. The plot continues with The Kid, living future life as an upbeat performer and co-owner of a club, Glam Slam, which was willed to him from Billy, who was the owner of First Avenue Club in the first film. It reached number 6 in the United States and was his third consecutive chart-topper (following Lovesexy and Batman) on the UK Albums Chart. Nearly every song on the record was written by Prince despite the handful of artists performing, including Tevin Campbell, Mavis Staples and The Time.
Graffiti Bridge is the twelfth full-length studio album by Prince, and the companion album to his second dramatic motion picture, Graffiti Bridge. It was released worldwide in August 1990 (fourteen months after his previous album, Batman). For the first time, Prince included on the album tracks he had written and produced for other artists (also included in the movie), and singles were also released to support those artists. In late 1988, Prince used some of the same tracks for the planned album, Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic, but this appears to have been a separate project. Several other musicians are listed as contributors on the album, but most appear with only minor contributions, with the bulk of the work on the album done by Prince alone. Tracks were recorded throughout the 1980s.

Album · 1990 · 17 Songs. Prince jumped into the '90s with Graffiti Bridge, an ambitious film/soundtrack project modeled after the multimedia triumph of Purple Rain. The bright, driving, and gospel-inflected double LP pushed his ‘80s experimentation to new heights. Its guests alone show how far he’d come as a collaborator-he’s joined by Tevin Campbell ( Round and Round ), Mavis Staples ( Melody Cool ), and musicians who later coalesced as The New Power Generation ( Thieves in the Temple )
