Concierto Dream Theater Octavarium World Tour - Pista Atletica Estadio Nacional - Santiago Chile 03/12/2005 Intro (In The Name Of God) The Root Of All Evil.
Dream Theater signed their first record contract with Mechanic on June 23, 1988 and set out to record their debut album. The band recorded the album at Kajem Victory Studios in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania When Dream and Day Unite was released in 1989 to far less fanfare than the band had anticipated. Mechanic ended up breaking the majority of the financial promises they had made to Dream Theater prior to signing their contract, so the band was restricted to playing around New York City. The album was released at around the same time as the video 5 Years in a Livetime, which covered the years from Kevin Moore's departure to the Falling into Infinity promotional tour. Addition of Jordan Rudess and Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory (1999–2000).
Although unknown to the fans at the time, these shows also marked the last time that Derek played with Dream Theater in a live setting. THE TRACKLISTING : Instead of having equal amounts of each show, it was found that the Poughkeepsie show had the longest setlist, best performance and sound, and so it was decided that the entire show would be used for the original release of 5DiaL. The Poughkeepsie show sat in the hands of 3 people for 3 years with a Do Not Distribute sticker on it, and became one of the most requested and sought after bootlegs of Dream Theater's career. This album is very fascinating. The main show featured is the last of the fun "Intimate Evening With Dream Theater" shows which were packed with B-sides and covers. This show is, in a sense, Derek Sherinian's swan song with DT, because it is the last he ever played with them.

Dream Theater’s career has spanned three decades and more than a dozen studio albums. But when it came to the progressive metal giants’ newest effort, Distance Over Time, due February 22nd, they still managed to find new and unique ways to approach the writing and recording process. And that makes for a more powerful album. At the same time, we also knew we wanted to do a bit of a shorter record, with more concise songs. We didn’t want to have three songs on the album. We wanted to have a bunch. So we kept it all very tight and focused. It was a huge conceptual piece that encompassed two-and-a-half hours of music, and took three years between writing the story and writing the songs. And then the recording had a full orchestra and a choir and, like, 570 tracks. Dream Theater, live in 2000. Photo: Mick Hutson/Redferns. What was significant about Metropolis Pt.
