Dave Clark's "Time" is a concept album based on Dave Clark's 1986 musical Time. It was released in vinyl as a double LP (Catalog number: AMPM 1, EQ 5003) and in cassette format. It sold over two million copies and spawned four hit singles, one by Julian Lennon and two by Cliff Richard. Another song, "In My Defence", became a posthumous hit for Freddie Mercury in 1992.

Dave Clarke is a DJ with an anarchist streak a mile wide and punk in his soul. Nothing says this as potently as his new album, ‘The Desecration of Desire’. Electronic to the hilt yet full of rich, dark songwriting, it’s been almost two years in the making and comes 14 years after his last full-length outing. The desire to write songs has been bubbling in me for ages, Clarke explains, My first album was a collection of tracks, the ‘Red’ series of EPs, plus other stuff. Those two felt like collections.

The Baron of Techno guides us through his lengthy career, touching on both the personal and the political. He may be known as The Baron Of Techno, a moniker given to him by renowned BBC Radio DJ, journalist John Peel, but Dave Clarke has an anarchist streak a mile wide and punk in his soul, having no truck with establishment figures or authoritarianism. Incredible track, still punches through today, perfectly arranged by Mr Clarke. This has got everything, a great drum track, captivating synth mangled in DC's signature ADSR sampler style, a message. Eternal classic.

At the time this was released, Dave Clarke was pretty much producing the toughest kicks around. This was no exception, pummelling audiences into submission. However, where Red 1 and 2 had hammered their way to the top of the club charts, this one did not quite reach the same summits, perhaps due to same-old, same-old effect, but also because of its much more grinding character. Sure, Thunder was designed to become another hit and did just that -- not become a hit, but another hit.The Storm, arguably the most interesting track on this, did get a lot of airplay too, but was probably too dark to enjoy the same success on a grand scale. The metallic bits in it were not a mere clanking on a copper pipe, but tearing sheets of stainless steel on a stormy background. Once the eardrums were bleeding, that massive kick showed up again to set fire to the floor. Survivors could then chant in unison: * The [Human], boil[s] with tumultuous rage,This warrior shall the dangerous storm assuage:With victories he [the strong shall] maul,And with [heavy] hand [smash] the rebel [wall].What fool so confident to say,That [they] shall live [an]other day?[With the subterranean we found (?)Come warriors, let us stand our ground.]Abstracted soul, ravished with ecstasies,Senseless, as it were in apathyBase, ignorant, and foolish multitude[Were Antiochus's fortitude (?)Yeah]The burning heat of a great flame to rise,[Shall] lick up the water, and the enterprise.Poor mortals, who wait for a happy day,Cheer up your hearts, and hear what I shall say. These words may cause wonderBut listen carefully to the distant thunderEach shall have his due. This is their lot;O he is worthy praise that shrinketh not!(*) Or at least try: catching verses from an Old English version of a Renaissance script was not exactly the easiest thing to do at an all-night rave. Especially considering the verses were freely hand-picked from Rabelais's works (Gargantua and Pantagruel), edited and patched together in a different order. Even today, a couple of verses remain elusive. This is also the only Re-load pressing in the Red series that does not come with different mixes.

This track is pure filth man , so dope I remember when it came out in 95' I got asked by my high school if i would Dj for some pep rally cause they heard i was dj. I laid this track down they didn't didnt know what hit em. I was hilarious ijust kept bringing the best from all electronic genre's "Loose caboose" Electroliners i was exposing them to future , they didnt like that .this is a anthem for every raver from the ninety's its a must have.

Thunder must be my favorite Dave Clarke track! While not as hyped and worshiped as Wisdom To The Wise and Protective Custody, I find it to be way more effective on the dance floors. In fact, I've had the honor of hearing the man himself dropping it during one of his sets, and I have to admit it was a fabulous experience. The heavy synth stabs, accompanied by a fast & hard kick really get the club moving, and the break makes Thunder THE track to put when the crowd seems about to fall asleep! Storm is provided in two versions: the vocal mix and the voxless, which is basically a two minute shorter version, from which the vocal parts have been edited. While still a great track, it packs nowhere near the energy and rawness of Thunder. If you're a DJ, this is essential- even more the vinyl version, where the synths are even more emphasized, to assure greater effect in clubs.

The first time I encountered Red 3 was on a mix tape which I was listening to with friends whilst tripping. We switched tapes and went from happy house one second to the dark sounds of "the storm" the next, and it was quite literally as if the room changed in view, feel, perspective - ven temprature. Some of my friends were freaking out but I thought it was absolutely the best thing I'd ever heard ! A true piece of techno masterclass and a pivotal moment in my own personal record buying history.Cheers Dave.

This (IMO) is a near perfect techno tune. After all this time it can be dropped at a club and it'll sounds fresher than most of the set played that night. The main groove is the best arpeggio bassline you'll ever hear, mixed in with another arpeggio synth that slides in and out around the low end. The overdriven piano stab and 909 low tom that comes in at about 1.59 sounds like its going to destroy the track at first, but it's pulled off in style. Short and sweet. One of the best kicks you'll ever hear too ;)

I'm in total agreement. Found this recently on a dig in upstate NY. It's really amazing. The way the elements of the track are mixed in like a DJ would bring it in. Wow. And the B side ain't to shabby either.

The original back wax comes with a red glossy inner sleeve and a light grey outer sleeve - except no substitues! The the best of the trilogy by far, Thunder the best track.
