The quadrille is a dance that was fashionable in late 18th- and 19th-century Europe and its colonies. Performed by four couples in a rectangular formation, it is related to American square dancing. The Lancers, a variant of the quadrille, became popular in the late 19th century and was still danced in the 20th century in folk-dance clubs.
Russian Folk Dance Kadril' is also known as Quadrille, Kadrille and Rigodon. Kadril' is a humorous competitive couples dance. Traditional Russian Kadril is a dance which involves four (or more) couples arranged in the shape of square with each couple facing the center of the square. St Paul's Cathedral, London, is an Anglican cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of London and the mother church of the Diocese of London. It sits on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London and is a Grade I listed building. Its dedication to Paul the Apostle dates back to the original church on this site, founded in AD 604. The present cathedral, dating from the late 17th century, was designed in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren.
The Sixdrilles are a clever reworking of the figures French Quadrille (or First Set) for a group of twelve dancers in the form of a square of trios, each consisting of a gentleman and two ladies. I have two Scottish sources for them, which match fairly closely: The Ball-Room, by Monsieur J. P. Boulogne (Glasgow, 1827). The Sixdrilles are excellent, however: intelligent variations on the basic figures that are easy to learn for dancers who know the First Set, as any good dancer of the 1820s would, and a convenient solution to the problem of having more ladies than gentlemen at a ball. Sadly, it is near-impossible to definitively answer the critical question of whether they were ever actually danced.

Over the last five hundred years, Kolomenskoe was a court village; it was first mentioned in the will of Prince Ivan DanilovichGrand Duke of Moscow from 1325 and Vladimir from 1332, nicknamed Kalita, who was the founder of the dynasty of Moscow princes and a grandson of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevskyknown by his military victories over German and Swedish invaders. The church was built to honour the birth of the son of Grand Prince Vasily Ivanovich in the village of Kolomenskoe in 1530. The boy was given the name Ivan. Years later, he made history as Ivan the Terribleruled from 1533 to 1584.
Kazimir Malevich's Black Square is the most recognizable symbol of the Russian avant-garde art school. The painting has given rise to a multitude of interpretations, arguments, and legends. Kazimir Malevich painted The Black Suprematist Square in 1915, in the heat of World War I, but he first conceived the idea 2 years ago in 1913. Initially, The Black Square was not intended to have any symbolic meaning: its purpose was to solve artistic problems. Kazimir Malevich (1879, Kiev - 1935 Leningrad, now St Petersburg). Paul Gustave Dore used a black square to illustrate the dark age of the Russian history. There is also Negroes Fighting in a Tunnel at Night by Paul Bilhaud, which is also quite similar to Malevich's Black Square. Finally, in 1893, French journalist and writer Alphonse Allais came up with a black horizontal rectangle entitled Negroes Fighting in a Cave.
