GREIE GUT FRAKTION Drilling An Ocean Taken from the album Baustelle (monika69) Music written by Antye Greie & Gudrun Gut Video by Benjamin Nolde.
Baustelle is German for "construction site," and it's an apt title for this album on a couple of levels. For one thing, the music itself is quite explicitly a construction made up of a blend of organically created and pre-existing materials: the West/East German duo of Gudrun Gut and Antye Greie have put together their own beats and vocals and combined them with ingenious samples.

Producer/vocalist AGF and underground legend Gudrun Gut have just release their debut album as Greie Gut Fraktion: Baustelle (Construction Site).
Entitled Baustelle, the album is made up primarily of field recordings from construction sites. The idea for the album was originally conceived in 2008, when the two artists worked together on a commission for the BBC program Late Junction. Greie and Gut's talents were predictably compatible: the former is an "electronic poet" who has previously worked with Ellen Allien and Vladislav Delay, while the latter is a longtime staple of Berlin's experimental scene, whose credentials include membership in the original lineup of Einsturzende Neubauten.

Given their love of technology, international outlooks, and busy schedules, perhaps it was fitting that this conversation took place via the magic of Skype. So, tell me where you are and what you can see. Antye Greie: I am right now in Hailuoto. It's an island in northern Finland where I live. We have white nights, so it's always light
